Good to Know

Final cost is dependent on the complexity of the groom and how long it take factoring in the size of your dog, how much coat they have and their behaviour. Additional costs apply where the service takes longer than expected, for parasites present/ heavily soiled coats/ difficult/ aggressive / excitable behaviour. Elderly or overweight dogs can take longer to groom so expect additional costs. Final cost is dependent on the complexity of the groom and how long it takes. Nail trimming and filing can only be done where dog permits it (some dogs can become aggressive or extremely stressed out for nails so if this is the case we would recommend you visit your Vet for this procedure to be done)

*In some cases, we will not be able to cater for dogs with severe matting or compacted undercoats, if we feel it is unsafe to groom them. Removing severe matting or compacted undercoats can be a very stressful and painful process so these cases will be referred to your Vet.

Regular appointments are essential for the health and welfare of your dog, whether they have a long or short coat; to ensure your dog’s nails can be trimmed to a comfortable length and to ensure a healthy knot/ matt free coat. Breeds such as but not limited to the Maltese, Bichon Frise, Poodle, Cavachon, Cockapoo, Maltipoo, Shih Tzu, Cocker Spaniel, Labradoodle, Goldendoodle or any mix of a Poodle or Bichon are advised to return every 4 to 6 weeks if you prefer a fluffy style. Not bringing your dog this often will result in the quick (blood vessel in their nails) to become overgrown and may result in their coat becoming matted. Overgrown nails and matting are extremely painful.

Please note we can not clip nails where the quick is overgrown (as they will bleed) and we will not brush out heavily matted dogs as it is against the law (as per the Animal Welfare Act) to inflict unnecessary pain on animals. Dogs presented with heavy matting must be clipped short as it is the only way to remove matting safely. The condition of your dogs coat and nails is your responsibility. Daily brushing and combing in between regular appointments is advised. If you can not bring your dog in for regular appointments (4-6 weekly) we will suggest a short style so you get longer out of it.

Overgrown and matted coats can cause your dog to overheat in warmer weather. Overgrown and matted coats will cause you dog to be very cold in the winter as matting takes a very long time to dry if your dog becomes wet after being out in the rain. Overgrown and matted coats is very uncomfortable for your dog and can cause all sorts of problems such as eye infections, ear infections and skin infections.
